How do I get started with FoilBuddies?
Simply create an account, allow location permissions to find spots near you, and start exploring! Browse the map to discover wingfoil spots, check weather conditions, and join the community.
Why does the app need location permissions?
Location permissions help us show you nearby wingfoil spots and provide personalized weather recommendations based on your location. You can still use the app without location access, but you'll need to manually search for spots.
How accurate is the weather data?
We use professional weather APIs to provide accurate forecasts. Weather data is updated regularly throughout the day. However, always check local conditions before heading out, as weather can change quickly.
Can I add new spots to the map?
Yes! Use the "Submit Spot" feature to suggest new wingfoil locations. Our team reviews all submissions to ensure quality and accuracy before adding them to the map.
Is FoilBuddies free to use?
Yes! FoilBuddies is currently completely free. In the future, we may introduce premium features, but core functionality will always remain free. You'll be notified well in advance of any changes.
How do check-ins work?
Check in at a spot to let other foilers know you're there! This helps build community and makes it easier to find session buddies. Your check-ins are visible to other users on the map.
How is my data protected?
We take privacy seriously. Your data is encrypted and stored securely. We never share your personal information with third parties. Read our Privacy Policy for details.
Troubleshooting
App won't load or crashes
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection
- Try closing and reopening the app
- Check for app updates in the App Store
- Restart your device if the problem persists
Weather data not showing
- Check your internet connection
- Pull down to refresh the weather data
- Some remote spots may have limited weather coverage
Location not working
- Go to Settings → Privacy → Location Services
- Make sure Location Services are enabled
- Find FoilBuddies and set to "While Using the App"
- Restart the app after changing permissions
Can't upload photos
- Go to Settings → Privacy → Photos
- Make sure FoilBuddies has photo access
- Check that your photo is under 10MB
- Try a different photo format (JPG or PNG)
